🔌 Basic FTP Info

Everything runs on FTP (yes, we're keeping it retro). Every method mentioned uses FTP, so you're not limited to our suggestions. If it supports FTP, it'll work. Below are just some curated ideas and tutorials to get you started.

FTP Servers

We currently host three servers, each with space for just under 22TB (each) of delightful content:

Local File Play

This method is your last resort, but it's handy if your internet connection is slower than a snail in quicksand or non-existent. Download files to your PC (using FileZilla or similar) and transfer them to your headset. Or, if you're a rebel, install an FTP client directly on your headset. Just remember that headset storage is limited, so don't go overboard.

🥽 Streaming on VR Headsets

Let's be honest: VR headsets are the holy grail of 3D movie experiences. Dual-eye rendering beats theaters, projectors, and even those ancient 3D TVs. Here's how to make it work:

The most popular option. Why? Because no one wants to clutter up their headset with giant files. Streaming methods include:

FTP (The Easy Button)

4XVR - Plays ISOs! Expensive but can be pirated.

4XVR is available for Quest, Pico, and Apple Vision Pro

4XVR Setup Steps:

1. Go to the network tab, hit the "+" button, and choose FTP or SFTP (depending on whether you want encryption).
2. Enter the FTP details above. Don't forget to use the exact username and password we gave you (case-sensitive!).
3. Click OK, log in, and start streaming. No downloads, no fuss.

CX File Explorer - If you have issues with 4XVR or want an alternative app to login direct to FTP to stream

CX File Explorer is an Android app. You can sideload it to your Android device in order to stream the collection. You will have to use another media player like 4XVR, Skybox, DeoVR, etc. to play the movies.

Download it on the device's store if you are using a smart 3D TV, 3D Projector that's Android based, an Android phone, or a Google device. If the device has no store or it's not available you can get the APK at APKMIRROR. This site is well known and safe.

CX File Explorer Setup:

1. Go to Network → + New location → Remote → FTP
2. The HOST is the IP: SERVERNAME.whatbox.ca (Servername can be Sputnik, Tamarind, and/or Challenger)
3. The PORT is 13017
4. FTP or FTPS - Up to you!
5. Username is the one you chose (find it in the HTML of your welcome email!)
6. Password is also what you chose (find it in the HTML of your welcome email!)
7. Don't need to use the anonymous option, it won't work. MORE also isn't needed, leave that stuff alone.

DLNA (The Plex-y Option)

Many apps support DLNA servers (like Plex or Windows Media Player). Rclone can also turn your collection into a DLNA server. This method is user-friendly and works on most devices with minimal setup usually.

Option 1: Basic FTP Access (Good for Downloading!)

1. Download and extract FileZilla from the link above. (If you're using our portable version, do NOT update it.) Alternatively, grab the free version from here.
2. Set up FileZilla to your liking (recommended settings included in the pre-configured version).
3. Use Site Manager to input the FTP details (see screenshots). Your username and password work for all servers.
4. Hit Connect, verify the certificate fingerprint (details below), check both boxes, and start downloading!

Option 2: Mount as Drive / DLNA (Best for Streaming)

1. Extract the 3DFF DLNA + Mount Kit.
2. Take the rclone config provided with payment (or make one using the config creator below) and move it into the folder you just unzipped the 3DFF.DLNA+Mount.Kit.7z (near the InstallServices.bat file).
3. Run the InstallServices.bat file and follow the prompts to mount or create a DLNA server.
4. If you choose to mount the folder, avoid spaces in the mount point (folder name) — this is non-negotiable.

Option 1: Basic FTP Access (Good for Downloading!)

1. Install an FTP client
2. Use the provided Site Manager screenshots for setup (same as Windows screenshots above).
3. Verify the certificate fingerprint (see fingerprint info in Windows section), connect, and start downloading.

Option 2: Mount as Drive / DLNA (Best for Streaming)

1. Extract the MacOS kit and run the script.
2. Follow the prompts to mount or set up DLNA. Avoid spaces in folder names or mount points.

Making a New Config

Steps to Update

1. Download the Config Generator.
2. Extract the zip and then run the executable.
3. Enter your login info. A new rclone.conf will be generated.

📝 Final Notes
